ACV gummies = candy? My kid just discovered the jar 🙃

Okay so I bought a bottle of ACV gummies thinking they'd be a nice way to get some apple cider vinegar in without the burn. I hid them in the pantry behind the oatmeal. This morning I found my 5-year-old sitting on the kitchen floor with the bottle, happily chewing away like they were sour gummy worms. He ate like 6!!! I freaked out – are these even safe for kids? Also, how do I explain to a kindergartner that these are NOT candy? 😩 Any tips?

Haha! That's classic. But seriously, keep those things locked up – they're potent and have a lot of acetic acid. My spouse did something similar (ate a handful) and had a weird stomachache for a day. Just called poison control to be safe, they said it's fine but watch for tummy troubles. As for explaining to a kid... maybe try putting them in a different container? Or just say they're 'grown-up vitamins' and only for people over 5 feet tall 😂

Happens to the best of us! Kids are naturally drawn to anything that looks like candy. I'd suggest storing them in a high cabinet with a child lock. Also, you might want to try the liquid form instead – no temptation for little ones! As for safety, a few extra gummies probably won't hurt, but watch for loose stools or upset stomach. Personally, I find the gummies have too much sugar and prefer raw ACV in water. But hey, whatever works!

Not a doc yet, but from my studies: ACV gummies are generally safe for adults but not recommended for kids under 12 due to high acidity and potential enamel damage. A one-time ingestion of 6 gummies might cause GI upset but unlikely to be dangerous. Call poison control if worried. Also, pro tip: store supplements in a locked box or high shelf. And maybe don't buy the gummy form – try the pill version or just the liquid if your spouse/kid can't resist 😉

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely move them to a high shelf with a child lock. And maybe switch to the pill form after this bottle is gone. My kid is fine btw – just had a bit of a tummy ache and was super hyper for like an hour. Lesson learned! 😂
