My kid thinks ACV gummies are candy!
Okay, so I bought a bottle of ACV gummies from the health food store last week, thinking I'd give them a try. I put them in the pantry next to my kid's fruit snacks (my bad, I know). This morning, I hear my 8-year-old yelling 'More candy!' and I see him holding the ACV bottle with a handful of gummies already in his mouth. He said they taste like 'sour apple with a kick' and wanted more. I freaked out and hid the bottle. Now I'm worried about him ingesting too much. Should I call poison control or just monitor him? Any advice would be great. Also, how do you store these things safely?
Oh no! That's a classic mix-up. I've been there with my own gummy vitamins. The good news is that ACV gummies are generally safe in small amounts, but they can cause stomach upset or tooth enamel erosion if eaten in excess. I'd call your pediatrician just to be safe, but I'm sure he's fine. I store all supplements in a high cabinet now, and I even put a childproof lock. Also, I read that ACV gummies can be pretty tart, so it's funny he liked them! My kid refuses to eat them because of the weird texture. He says they're 'squishy but chewy' and it grosses him out.
Haha! That's a classic. I once caught my dog eating a whole bottle of vitamin D gummies. Anyway, for the future, I keep my gummies in the fridge because the cold makes them less appealing to kids. But I think MindfulMila is right—call the doc for peace of mind. And on the texture note, I actually love the texture of ACV gummies, but I've heard some people find them too rubbery. Maybe it's an acquired taste? Or maybe your kid has a sophisticated palate? lol
Oh man, this reminds me of when my husband thought my melatonin gummies were sour gummy bears. He ate like five and then slept through an entire Netflix marathon. For the future, I recommend keeping them in a separate drawer or using a pill organizer that's clearly labeled. And definitely talk to your kid about not taking anything without asking. But seriously, it's a common thing. I wouldn't stress too much, but I'd call the poison control just to be 100% sure. They're usually super helpful.
