So I tried making my own ashwagandha gummies at home using gelatin and ashwagandha powder, but they came out super chewy and grainy. Does anyone have a good recipe or know what went wrong? I used 2 tbsp gelatin, 1 cup juice, and 1 tsp ashwagandha.

Hey OP! The grainy texture is likely because the ashwagandha powder isn't dissolving well. Try mixing it with a bit of hot water first to make a paste, then add to the juice. Also, reduce gelatin to 1.5 tbsp for a softer texture. But honestly, store-bought is easier if you want consistent results.

As a mom, I'm skeptical about DIY supplements. The dosage might be off. Have you checked the ashwagandha potency? I'd rather buy from a reputable brand to ensure safety, especially if kids might get into them. Just a thought.

From a med student perspective, make sure you're not overheating the mixture. High temps can degrade the beneficial compounds in ashwagandha. Keep it below 90°F (32°C) when adding the powder. Also, agar-agar might be better for a vegan option, but it sets firmer. Experiment with small batches!

Budget tip: I use a silicone mold and add a little honey or maple syrup to mask the earthy taste. Also, I found that blending the ashwagandha with a little coconut oil helps it incorporate smoothly. Don't forget to refrigerate for at least 4 hours!
