THREAD: My Ashwagandha gummies changed color and got hard - are they still safe?Started by QuartzQuinn454

Hey everyone, need some quick advice! I bought these ashwagandha gummies about 2 months ago to help with stress (parenting a toddler is no joke lol). They were fine at first but I just opened the bottle today and noticed they've changed - some have gotten kinda hard and crumbly, others have this white-ish coating on them. They're also sticking together in clumps. Are these still safe to eat? I really need my stress relief but don't want to risk anything weird. Thanks!

Oh I've seen this before! That white coating is probably sugar bloom - happens when moisture gets in or they're stored in humid places. Honestly, I'd be skeptical about eating them if they've changed texture that much. With my kids' vitamins, I always check expiration dates and storage instructions. Did you keep them in the bathroom or kitchen? Those places can mess with gummies. Personally, I'd toss them - better safe than sorry with supplements!

Mine did something similar last year. They got hard and stuck together. I ate them anyway for about a week - no ill effects, but they were unpleasant texture-wise. Minimalist take: if they're just sugar bloom/hardening from moisture loss, they're probably safe but might not work as well. If there's mold or weird smells, definitely toss. Simple solution: store future bottles with silica gel packets in airtight containers. Less waste, more effective.

Thanks both! They were in my kitchen cabinet, so maybe humidity got to them. No weird smells or mold that I can see, just the texture/color change. QuartzQuinn258 - you're right about being cautious, especially with how tired I already am lol. EarthElias370 - good tip about storage! I'll probably finish this bottle since they're not cheap, but will store the next one better. Appreciate the help!
