THREAD: My Ashwagandha gummies changed color/texture - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, hoping for some advice. I've been taking these ashwagandha gummies for stress relief for about a month, but I just opened the bottle today and noticed they look different. Some have turned a darker brownish color, and a few feel kinda hard or have a white powdery coating. They're also sticking together in clumps. I stored them in my kitchen cabinet like usual. Are these still safe to take, or should I toss them? Thanks!

Oh honey, that's sugar bloom and crystallization! Totally normal with gummies, especially if there's humidity changes. The white powder is just sugar coming to the surface - harmless but might taste gritty. The hardening/sticking happens when they lose moisture. They're PROBABLY safe if they don't smell weird or have mold (check closely!). But for optimal potency, ashwagandha is sensitive! I'd contact the brand - they might send replacements. Always store in cool, dry places! #WellnessWarrior

lol i had this happen with my melatonin gummies last year! they got all stuck together and i was worried too. i ate them anyway and was fine, just had to chew harder haha. but yeah like ursula said, check for mold. maybe try putting a silica gel packet in the bottle? i'm new to ashwagandha tho - does it still work if the gummies change color?

Dealing with this from Bali right now - humidity here destroys gummies! The texture changes are usually safe, but color darkening might mean oxidation. Ashwagandha's active compounds (withanolides) can degrade with heat/air exposure. If they're just sugar-bloomed, they're likely okay safety-wise, but effectiveness could be lower. Cheaper brands do this more in my experience. OP, what brand are yours? I'd lean toward tossing if they're more than 3-4 months old.

ugh i feel you, student budget here and hate wasting stuff. my ashwagandha gummies did this too - i still took them for like 2 weeks and didn't get sick. they tasted weird tho. maybe try one and see? but if money's tight, some brands have good customer service and might refund/replace if you complain. i got a free bottle from nature's way once when mine melted together in my hot dorm room lol
