B12 gummies + coffee: safe or a waste?

Hey all, I just started taking B12 gummies in the morning (the 1000mcg one from Nature's Bounty). But I also slam a big cup of black coffee right after. Is that okay? I heard caffeine might mess with absorption or something. Any science on this?

Generally fine, but timing can matter. B12 is water-soluble and absorbed in the ileum, and caffeine is a stimulant that can speed up gut motility, so you might not absorb all of it before it passes through. I'd wait 30-60 min after your gummy before coffee, or take it with a meal. Also, if you're into optimization, split your dose – half in the AM, half later. (I'm a biohacker nerd, so take that as you will.)

Honestly, I think coffee cancels out the benefits. I used to drink coffee with all my supplements, but now I'm strict paleo and eat a whole-food diet. I take my B12 gummy with a piece of fruit and no coffee. I feel way better. Try swapping the coffee for green tea or something.

I DIY my own B12 gummies with methylcobalamin sublingual drops (just mix with gelatin and some juice). The key is to let it dissolve under your tongue for a bit – that bypasses your gut entirely. Then you can drink all the coffee you want, haha. But if you're using store-bought, check if it's cyanocobalamin or methyl. Methyl absorbs better, but it's all about consistency, not perfection.

Thanks guys! I'll try waiting a bit before my coffee. And maybe I'll look into the sublingual route, but I don't have time for DIY, lol. Appreciate the tips!
