B12 Gummies + My Morning Coffee: Any Issues?
Hey all, I've been taking B12 gummies for a while now (the 1000mcg kind) and I usually have a cup of coffee in the morning. I just heard that caffeine might affect B12 absorption? Is it better to take them at a different time? I'm on a tight budget so I don't want to waste money if they're not working.
I've read that caffeine can interfere with B12 absorption, but I think it's more about taking it with a meal? I do intermittent fasting and have my gummies with my first meal (around noon) and coffee right after, and my energy levels are good. Maybe try taking them with food to be safe? ✌️
From my DIY nutrition research, B12 is water-soluble and absorbs fine with or without caffeine for most people. The real issue is if you have low stomach acid (common with age or antacids). Coffee might actually help by stimulating stomach acid. I take my B12 with a bit of apple cider vinegar in water. But honestly, as long as you're consistent, you're fine.
Night shift guy here. I take my B12 when I wake up (afternoon) and slam an energy drink (lots of caffeine). Been doing this for months, my bloodwork is perfect. So no issues. But if you're worried, just take it at night before bed? I take my magnesium then. Doesn't mess with sleep for me. Just my 2 cents.
