Hey all, I just got some B12 gummies (cyanocobalamin) and I usually have a big cup of coffee in the morning. Is it safe to take them together? I know caffeine can affect absorption of some vitamins. Anyone have experience?

Great question! I remember reading that high doses of caffeine can reduce B12 absorption a bit because it increases stomach acid and motility. But the effect is probably minor. If you're worried, take the gummy with a meal or separate by 30 mins. Also, methylcobalamin form is better absorbed overall.

Med student here. Coffee is fine in moderation, but there's also some evidence that coffee can impair B12 absorption in the long term if you're already deficient. I'd suggest taking it with water, not coffee. B12 is water soluble so it's safe, just maybe not as effective with caffeine.

I usually take my B12 gummy with a green smoothie (no coffee) because I heard caffeine can stress the adrenals and B12 helps with energy. If you're using it for energy, maybe skip the coffee or take the gummy later. But overall, it's not dangerous: just might be less bioavailable. Listen to your body
