Can I take B12 gummy with my morning coffee? + other combos
Hey all, I've been taking a B12 gummy (the berry flavor from that popular brand) every morning for a few weeks now. I usually have a cup of coffee right after. Lately I've been feeling a bit jittery and sometimes get a weird stomach ache. Could the coffee be interfering? Also, I sometimes take a vitamin D gummy at the same time – is that okay? I'm trying to keep things minimal, so I don't want to overcomplicate. Any advice?
I'm no doctor, but I've read that coffee can block absorption of B12 because of the tannins or something? I usually wait at least 30 mins after my gummy before drinking coffee. Also, I sometimes crush my B12 gummy and mix it into a smoothie with yogurt – extra creamy and no jitters! But maybe that's just me. Have you tried taking it with food? That might help with the stomach ache.
I take my B12 gummy with my morning tea (herbal, no caffeine) and it feels gentler. When I used to drink coffee, I noticed I got more anxious, but that could just be the coffee. Maybe try switching to tea? Also, I take a D3 gummy too and haven't had issues, but I space them out by an hour just to be safe. Mindfulness helps me remember – I set an intention before taking them. :)
Oh dear, I've been taking B12 gummies for years and my doctor said it's fine with coffee, but everyone's different. My grandson takes his with orange juice and says it helps. I'd be careful with the jitteriness – could be too much caffeine or the B12. Have you checked with your doctor? I always say better safe than sorry. Also, I take mine with a banana and never had a tummy ache.
Thanks everyone! I think I'll try waiting a bit before coffee and maybe take it with a small snack. I'll also ask my doc at my next checkup. Appreciate the tips!
