Hey everyone! I tried making my own B12 gummies at home using gelatin and methylcobalamin powder. Followed a recipe I found online: 1/2 cup juice, 2 tbsp gelatin, 1/4 tsp powder. But after setting in the fridge overnight, they turned into a gooey mess! They never firmed up. Any idea what went wrong? Should I use more gelatin or is it the acidity of the juice? Thanks!

sounds like you didn't bloom the gelatin enough or maybe the juice had too much acid. try using less acidic juice like apple. also check your gelatin - is it fresh? and yeah, maybe add a bit more. I'm sugar-free so I use stevia drops instead of juice, works fine.

also, make sure you're heating the mixture hot enough before adding gelatin, but not boiling. if it doesn't get hot enough, gelatin won't activate. I've had that issue before. and for B12, I just take it as a sublingual during my fasts, honestly easier.

add some citric acid or lemon juice to help with setting? actually no, acid can break down gelatin. use agar-agar instead, it's more stable. I use agar for all my gummies. plus, try using a higher dose of B12 - it's water soluble so no worries, but for better absorption, add a little black pepper extract or use a liposomal form.

For my kids, I use agar and fruit puree. I find that the mixture needs to boil for a minute to set properly. But if you want to stick with gelatin, maybe use less liquid overall. And don't forget to let them set at room temp for a while before refrigerating. Sometimes that helps. Hope your next batch works!
