THREAD: Help! My homemade B12 gummies turned into a sticky disasterStarted by OP

Hey everyone, I tried making my own B12 gummies at home using gelatin and some vitamin powder I bought online. Followed a basic recipe but they came out super sticky and wouldn't set properly. Anyone have tips for getting the right consistency? Also wondering if I'm using too much B12 powder - does that affect texture? Would love any recipe advice!

OP, based on my research, the issue is likely your gelatin-to-liquid ratio or insufficient acid content. B12 (cyanocobalamin) is water-soluble and doesn't significantly alter texture, but improper pH can prevent proper gelling. I'd recommend: 1) Use 2 tbsp gelatin per cup liquid max, 2) Add 1 tsp citric acid or lemon juice to help set, 3) Make sure your B12 powder is fully dissolved before mixing. Also check your source - some cheap powders contain fillers that interfere with gelling.

I've made these successfully with agar instead of gelatin! Gelatin can be tricky with temp changes. My go-to: 2 tsp agar powder, 1 cup fruit juice (for flavor), 1/4 tsp B12 powder (measure carefully!), heat to simmer for 5 min, pour into molds. They set firmer than gelatin gummies but less sticky. Also, are you refrigerating them long enough? Mine need 4+ hours. If you want the gelatin version, I have a foolproof recipe with exact measurements!

Love this DIY energy! 🌱 For my #WellnessWednesday content last month, I showed how I make methylcobalamin B12 gummies with elderberry juice for extra antioxidants. Key tip: Add a tiny bit of sunflower lecithin (1/4 tsp) as an emulsifier - it helps everything bind better and reduces stickiness! Also, make sure your molds are completely dry before pouring. Tag me if you try it - would love to share your journey on my feed! #HomemadeHealth

OMG I feel you! My first batch was a gloopy mess too 😅 What really helped me was using a candy thermometer - gelatin sets best around 95°F when pouring. Also, are you using fresh lemon juice? The acidity is crucial! I now make mine with pomegranate juice, grass-fed gelatin, and a dash of local honey (though honey can make them softer). They're amazing for my morning energy before sun salutations! Let us know how round 2 goes!
