Is Meat Really the Best Protein Source? Thoughts?
Just read this article about the healthiest meat with most protein and least fat. Seems like chicken breast is the winner. As a digital nomad always on the go, I rely on protein for energy. What do you all think? Is meat really the best source or are plant proteins just as good?
From a medical standpoint, chicken breast indeed has an excellent protein-to-fat ratio. But don't overlook fish like tuna or salmon, they offer omega-3s. Also, plant proteins can be great, but they often lack some essential amino acids unless combined. For optimal health, a balanced approach works best. But for pure protein efficiency, meat is hard to beat.
As a student on a budget, I find plant proteins like lentils and beans way more affordable and they're also lean. Plus, they come with fiber and other nutrients. Sure, they might not have as much protein per gram, but you can get enough if you plan. And honestly, the environmental impact is a big factor for me. So I'll stick with my veggie options, thanks.
I'm a biohacker, so I've experimented with both. For muscle building, animal proteins are superior due to their complete amino acid profile. But I also add spirulina and chia seeds for plant-based boost. The article is right about chicken, but I personally prefer grass-fed beef or wild salmon for their nutrient density. It's all about quality and how your body responds. Anyone else track their macros?
