Microgreens for B12? Let's dig in!
Just read this article about microgreens being a solution for nutrient deficiencies. Seems like they pack a punch! But I'm wondering if they actually have B12? I thought B12 was mainly in animal products. Anyone know more?
I'm skeptical. Microgreens are great for vitamins, but B12 is tricky. Most plants don't make B12; it's bacteria that do, and they're not typically in the soil we grow greens in. So unless they're fortified or contaminated, I doubt they're a reliable B12 source. Better stick to supplements or fortified foods.
Haha Olivia, you're right. As a gym rat, I get B12 from my protein shakes and energy drinks. But microgreens are super nutritious otherwise. They've got iron, zinc, etc. But for B12? Nah. I'd say take your gummy B12 and eat your microgreens for the other stuff.
I've been growing microgreens at home, and honestly, they're awesome. But I always thought B12 was a myth for plants. The article might be a bit misleading. Still, they're a great addition to a balanced diet. Just don't ditch your B12 supplements if you're deficient. That's my two cents.
