My kid thinks B12 gummies are candy - is this normal?

Okay so I have been giving my 6 year old B12 gummies for a few months now. This morning he grabbed the bottle, shook it, and yelled "CANDY!!" I keep them in a high cabinet but he's sneaky. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw him with the bottle. He's fine, but I'm second-guessing my choice. Anyone else deal with this? Any tips to keep them out of reach?

Ha, story of my life! My 4-year-old calls them 'brain candy' and tries to sneak them too. I've started keeping them in a locked cabinet, but that didn't stop him from climbing the counter once. Now I only buy the ones that taste slightly bitter? No, just kidding. But definitely keep them up high and maybe use a child-proof lock. Also, I make sure to give them to my kid at the table as a 'treat' after meals, so he doesn't associate them with candy. Good luck!

My wife and I have to hide our gummy vitamins from our dog! Not the same, but I feel your pain. We use a lockbox for all supplements now. Safety first! And as a photographer, I snapped a pic of my kid with a guilty face holding the bottle - it's priceless. But seriously, keep them hidden.

Thanks for the advice! I'll invest in a lockbox for sure. And the 'brain candy' thing is cute - my son calls them 'gummy bears for your insides' lol. I just hope he doesn't eat a whole bottle one day. I'm thinking of switching to drops, but I know he'll miss the gummy taste.

I hear ya. The gummy texture is what they love. But you could try the sugar-free kind - they taste less candy-like? Or maybe even a chewable tab they have to munch. In the end, it's about teaching them moderation. And always model the right way: "we take one every day, not all at once." They get it eventually. :)
