THREAD: Weird B12 side effect? Anyone else?Started by OP

Hey everyone, been taking a gummy B12 supplement for about 2 weeks now (the berry flavored ones from Nature's Way). I've noticed my urine is like... neon yellow/bright orange? It's kinda freaky but I feel fine otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal or should I be concerned?

OP, that's actually a well-documented effect! B12 (cobalamin) contains cobalt, which can cause bright yellow or orange urine when you take high doses. It's harmless—your body is just excreting the excess through urine. Make sure you're not exceeding the RDA (2.4 mcg for adults) unless advised by a doctor. The color change is due to riboflavin (B2) often included in B-complex supplements too. Nothing to worry about physiologically!

lol yeah mine turns highlighter yellow after my morning stack! I take B12 for energy before CrossFit—helps with my endurance big time. As long as you're hydrated and not feeling dizzy, it's all good. Maybe cut back if you're taking more than one gummy? I stick to one 500mcg gummy pre-workout and my pee looks like a glow stick 😂

Thanks for posting this—I noticed the same thing last week and was low-key stressing! I take B12 gummies because my job's insane and I'm always tired. TeaTina's explanation is reassuring. OP, if you're worried, maybe try halving the gummy? I split mine now and the color's less intense. Also, drinking more water helps dilute it!
