Beauty gummies on the go: melt? TSA? Help!
Hey all, I'm going on a road trip next week and then flying back. I take these beauty gummies (hair, skin, nails) daily. Will they melt in a hot car? Also, has anyone taken them through TSA? Do they count as liquids? Any storage tips? Thanks!
TSA: gummies are solid, so no liquid limit. But if they're coated or have a gel-like consistency, they might question it. I always put them in a clear bag just in case. As for melting, depends on the gummy. Most have gelatin or pectin; they can get soft and stick together in high heat. I'd keep them in a cooler or insulated bag if you're in a hot car. Also, consider transferring to a smaller container to save space.
Just a heads up: many beauty gummies contain gelatin (animal-derived), so if you're vegan, check labels. For travel, I recommend pectin-based ones—they hold up better in heat and are cruelty-free. And yes, TSA is usually fine, but I've had them swab my bag before. No biggie.
Med student here. Heat can degrade some vitamins, especially vitamin C and B vitamins. So even if they don't melt, they might lose potency if exposed to high temps for long. Try to keep them below 77°F (25°C). If you're hiking, put them in a shaded pocket, not your backpack's outer mesh. Also, check expiration dates—heat accelerates spoilage. Safe travels!
Thanks for the replies! I'll definitely get a small cooler for the car and a pectin-based brand for the flight. Appreciate the tip about potency, Nancy. I'll keep them in my carry-on.
