Hey everyone, I tried making my own beauty gummies at home to save some cash. Used gelatin, some vitamin C powder, and a bit of biotin supplement I had. Followed a basic recipe online but they never set right - just a gloopy, sticky mess that won't come out of the molds. Anyone have a foolproof recipe or know what I did wrong? Is it the vitamin powders messing with the gelling?

Honestly, making your own supplements at home sounds risky. How do you even measure the doses accurately? Store-bought gummies are tested and regulated. My kids take the gummy vitamins from the store and I would never risk giving them something I mixed up in my kitchen. What if you add too much of something?

lol i feel you OP, tried making sleep gummies for my toddler last month and they were a disaster. i was so tired i probably messed up the measurements. i used agar instead of gelatin cause we're vegetarian, and they came out rubbery. maybe try agar? but careful with acidic stuff like vit C, it can mess with gelling. also, did you let them cool completely? mine looked wet for hours then finally set.

As a retired nurse, I'd caution about supplement interactions and proper dosing. Vitamin powders can alter pH and affect gelling agents. Gelatin needs specific conditions to set - too much acid (like vitamin C) or certain minerals can prevent it. Try a small test batch with just gelatin and juice first, then gradually add supplements. And always consult a healthcare provider before self-supplementing.

Ugh, I don't have time for this kind of project - my beauty gummies are on auto-ship from an online retailer. But if you're determined, maybe check the temperature? I remember reading that overheating gelatin ruins it. And are you using the right gelatin-to-liquid ratio? Could be too much liquid. Good luck, but honestly, sometimes it's worth just buying them ready-made.
