Hey everyone! So I tried making my own beauty gummies at home to save some cash (student budget struggles, amirite?). Used gelatin, some vitamin C powder, and a bit of biotin supplement I had. Followed a basic recipe online but they came out super rubbery and tasted awful, like chemicals. Anyone have a foolproof recipe or tips? I really want this to work!

FloraFinn, I feel you! I tried this last month and used my kitchen scale app and a digital thermometer to get precise measurements. Still failed lol. My batch melted at room temp. Pro tip: maybe try agar instead of gelatin? Heard it sets differently. Also, are you using pure vitamin powders or crushed tablets? The fillers in tablets might mess with texture.

Honestly, why bother? Store-bought gummies are tested for dosage and safety. Homemade ones? You have no idea if you're getting the right amount of vitamins or if they're even stable after heating. Plus, that chemical taste is probably the supplements breaking down. Save your time and money.

As a mom, I'm skeptical about DIY supplements too. But if you're determined, FloraFinn, make sure you're using food-grade ingredients and check temperatures carefully. Gelatin can get tough if overheated. Maybe add natural fruit juice for flavor? And start small—test a tiny batch first. Safety first, especially if sharing!

Thanks for the replies! FloraFinn847, good point about agar—I'll look into it. ZestZack896, I get the concern, but I'm trying to cut costs and control ingredients. DynamicDan259, fruit juice is a great idea for masking taste! I'll try a mini-batch with lower heat and report back. Fingers crossed!
