Hey everyone! I'm a tired mom trying to save a few bucks by making my own beauty gummies. Used agar agar, vitamin C powder, and some fruit juice. Followed a recipe but ended up with a rubbery, clumpy mess. Any tips on ratios or technique? Also, how do I get that nice gummy texture without the rubber? Help!

I've been making my own gummies for a while now. Key is to use a scale for precision. For agar, try 1 tsp per cup of liquid. Also, whisk constantly while heating, and pour into molds quickly. Did you bloom the agar first? That might be the issue. Keep it simple!

Nancy, if you're using vitamin C, keep in mind it's acidic and can mess with gelling. I'd recommend gelatin for a chewier result, but if you're vegan, agar works. Try adding a pinch of citric acid instead of pure vit C, and use a higher liquid ratio. Also, let them set in the fridge for at least 2 hours. How long did you let them set?

Hey Nancy! Make sure your agar is fully dissolved before adding any powders. I heat the liquid to boiling, then simmer for 5 min. Also, avoid using too much fruit juice with natural sugars - they can inhibit gelling. Maybe try a small test batch first. Good luck!
