My Beauty Gummies changed color and got hard – are they still safe?
Hey everyone! I've been using Beauty Gummies for about a month now, and I noticed that the last few gummies in the bottle have turned darker and gotten really hard. They also look like they have some white spots on them. I've been storing them in the bathroom cabinet (I know, probably not ideal), but are they still safe to eat? Has anyone else experienced this?
Oh no, that sounds like sugar bloom! It happens when gummies are exposed to moisture or temperature changes. White spots are usually crystallized sugar, and the hardening is from losing moisture. They might still be safe, but the quality and potency could be off. I'd toss them just to be safe. Next time, keep them in a cool, dry place like a pantry.
I've had that happen with some gummies too. If they're just hard and spotty, they're probably fine, but if they smell weird or taste off, don't risk it. The active ingredients might degrade, so even if they're safe, they might not work as well. I'd say buy a new bottle and store it properly – not in the bathroom, lol.
I agree with TeaTina – likely sugar bloom from humidity. Gummies are sensitive to moisture. I always store mine in a jar with a silica packet to keep them fresh. If they're rock hard, they might be unpleasant to chew but probably won't hurt you. However, if they're sticky or melted, that's a sign of bacterial growth, so better to be cautious. I'd contact the company too, they might send a replacement.
