THREAD: Beauty Gummies - Are They Just a Sweet Treat or Actually Work?Started by CrystalCathy

Hey everyone! As a marathon runner, I'm always looking for ways to support my skin and hair health since all that sun exposure and sweat can really take a toll. I've seen these beauty gummies popping up everywhere - collagen, biotin, vitamins, you name it. Has anyone here tried them specifically for athletic recovery or sun protection? I'm curious if they actually help with skin elasticity or if it's just marketing hype. I'd love to hear real experiences before I add another supplement to my routine!

Weekend warrior checking in! I grabbed some biotin gummies on a whim last month because my girlfriend said they might help with my thinning hair (thanks, genetics!). Honestly, I haven't noticed any difference in my hair yet, but they taste amazing - like candy! I'm wondering if I need to give it more time or if I should try a different brand. CrystalCathy, I haven't thought about the sun protection angle - that's interesting. Do any of these actually have SPF properties or is it more about repair after damage?

As someone who cares deeply about flavor, I've sampled probably a dozen different beauty gummy brands. Most taste like cheap gelatin with artificial sweeteners, but I did find one organic brand with real fruit juice that's actually enjoyable. That said, I'm skeptical about the actual benefits. Many of these gummies have such low doses of active ingredients that you'd need to eat half the bottle to get any real effect. OasisOliver - biotin won't help with hair loss if it's genetic, unfortunately. Has anyone actually seen lab tests or third-party verification for these products?

Great points, BioBob! I've been researching and you're right - the dosage matters. I found one brand that has clinical studies showing improved skin hydration after 8 weeks, but it's pricey. Oliver, most don't have SPF - they're meant to support your skin's natural defenses and repair. I'm thinking of trying the clinically-backed ones for my next training cycle. Bob, which organic brand did you like taste-wise? Even if the benefits are minimal, at least I won't dread taking them!

Thanks for the reality check, BioBob! Guess I'll save my money on the biotin then. CrystalCathy, if you do try those clinical ones, please report back! I might be interested if they actually work. In the meantime, maybe I'll just enjoy the tasty ones as an occasional treat and focus on wearing a hat during my weekend hikes. Anyone else have success stories with specific ingredients? I've heard good things about vitamin C gummies for skin brightness.

CrystalCathy - the brand I liked is 'Nature's Glow' - their berry blend is quite good. But honestly, you're better off eating real berries! Oliver makes a good point about vitamin C - that's one ingredient where gummies might make sense since it's water-soluble and needs daily replenishment. My advice? Read labels carefully, check for third-party testing, and don't expect miracles. If they taste good and you can afford them, maybe they're worth it as a supplement to a healthy diet, but they're not magic bullets. Has anyone compared prices? Some of these are outrageously expensive for what you get.
