Are biotin gummies just candy? Am I the only one concerned about the sugar?
I started taking biotin gummies a couple months ago for my hair and nails. They taste like candy, which is nice, but I just checked the label and they have 3g of sugar per gummy! That's 6g a day for the serving size. I could eat fruit instead. The "candy-fication" of supplements feels wrong. Back in the day we just swallowed a pill and it was fine. Anyone else feel this way?
Totally get you, Jack. I tried those gummy vitamins once and felt like I was eating a gummy bear. I prefer the old-fashioned tablets. No sugar, no sticky mess. Plus, I read that the sugar can actually be bad for your teeth if you're taking them daily. I'll stick to my pills.
I see both sides. As a retired nurse, I get the concern about added sugars. But gummies are a great option for people who have trouble swallowing pills, like some of my older patients. Also, for kids, it's easier to get them to take vitamins if they taste good. As long as you're not overdoing it, a little sugar is fine. Just brush your teeth after and watch your overall intake.
Gigi, you make a good point. I hadn't thought about the swallowing issue. But still, I wish there were more options without the sugar. Maybe I'll look for sugar-free gummies or just go back to pills. I feel hoodwinked by the candy taste lol.
Sugar-free gummies exist! I've seen them at health food stores. They use stevia or erythritol. Maybe check those out, Jack. But yeah, the marketing definitely makes them seem like a treat.
