Biotin gummies changed texture—safe to eat?
Hey everyone, I’ve been taking these biotin gummies for about 2 months. Recently I noticed they’ve gotten really hard and some have a white powdery coating. They also clump together. The flavor is still fine. Are they safe to eat still? Expiration is months away.
Sounds like sugar bloom or moisture loss. Happens to gummies if exposed to temp changes. I’d say toss them—better safe than sorry. My tech gadgets have sensors for humidity, but for food I play it safe.
I did some research on this. The white powder is likely sugar crystallizing on the surface—still safe as long as no mold. But hardness could mean they dried out. Check for any weird smells or mold. If not, they’re probably okay to eat, but might be less effective.
Ugh, that’s why I prefer plant-based gummies with clean ingredients. Those additives cause texture issues. If they’re vegan and natural, maybe contact the company. Otherwise, I’d avoid eating them. Better to compost than risk digestion problems.
I had the same issue with a different brand—contacted support and they said it’s fine as long as no mold. I ate them and was fine. But yeah, store them in a cool dry place next time. I put mine in a glass jar with a silica packet now.
