Biotin Gummies: Study says they make hair/skin worse??

So I stumbled on this study (PMID: 12345678) that says high-dose biotin supplements actually mess with your hair and skin? It claims it can interfere with biotinidase and cause acne or something. As a marathon runner, I take biotin gummies for my nails and hair, but now I'm doubting if it's legit or just an industry hit piece. What do you guys think? Link: [some study]. Marketing BS or real science?

Honestly, I've seen so many conflicting studies. One says biotin is great, another says it's garbage. But I've been popping biotin gummies with caffeine every morning for a year, and my hair is still thin. Maybe I need to up the dose? But that study sounds sketchy. Is it funded by Big Pharma? lol. I'd rather trust my own experience than some random study.

I’ve read that study too, and it’s not really about biotin being bad, but more about mega-dosing. Most people don't need supplements unless you're deficient. As a fitness pro, I see clients who take biotin for hair but it doesn't do much. And there's some evidence that excess biotin can interfere with lab tests, so that's a real concern. But the study's conclusion that it worsens skin/hair is probably overblown. Correlational, not causal.

I agree with Jenny. I started meditating and actually focusing on my diet instead of gummies. But I used to take biotin gummies and noticed my breakouts increased. I stopped and they went away. Could be coincidence, but I feel like we are all different. Maybe consult a doc? But I'm a rookie so what do I know :) Let's just be mindful about what we put in our bodies.
