THREAD: Homemade Biotin Gummies Disaster - Help!Started by LemonLiam32

Hey everyone, so I tried making my own biotin gummies at home to save some cash. Used gelatin, some biotin powder I got online, and a bit of honey for sweetness. But they turned out super rubbery and wouldn't set properly - just a sticky mess! Anyone have a foolproof recipe or tips on ratios? I'm worried I'm wasting good supplements.

omg i feel you!! i tried this last semester when my hair was falling out from stress lol. my batch was a total fail too - they melted into goo after a day. i found that agar agar works better than gelatin if you're vegan, but you gotta get the temp right. also maybe try mixing the biotin with a little carrier oil first? it might blend better. cheap tip: use old silicone ice cube trays as molds!

Liam, as a nurse I'd caution about homemade supplements. Biotin dosage is tricky - too much can interfere with lab tests. That said, for texture: ensure your gelatin blooms properly in cool liquid first, and don't overheat the mixture. What temperature did you heat to? And are you certain your biotin powder is pure? Some fillers might affect gelling.

This takes me back to the 90s when we'd make homemade fruit snacks! The key is patience - let them set overnight in the fridge. For biotin specifically, maybe add a little citrus juice? The acid might help with consistency. Also, consider adding a touch of lecithin as an emulsifier. Would love to see photos if you try again - perfect for my nostalgic DIY blog!
