Is biotin the real deal? Just read this article and it’s throwing shade on hair gummies!

https://www.nytimes.com/... TL;DR: They reviewed 6 top hair supplements (including biotin gummies) and say results are mixed and complicated. Some work for certain deficiencies, but for most ppl it’s overhyped. What do you guys think? I’ve been taking biotin gummies for 3 months and haven’t seen much... 😩

Honestly, most hair supplements are a scam unless you have a legit deficiency. I’m a biohacker & I focus on whole foods + blood work. Biotin is water-soluble, so you just pee out the excess. For hair growth, collagen peptides & vitamin D are more evidence-based. Just my 2 cents.

I don’t care what the science says, I take biotin gummies because they taste like candy! 😂 But yeah, I noticed my nails got harder, not sure about hair. Anyone else get that? The article’s right though, it’s complicated.

Ugh, I wish I read this before spending $30 on those gummies. As a broke student, I can’t afford to waste money. Anyone know a cheap natural alternative? Maybe eggs & nuts? I’ve heard pumpkin seeds are good for hair.

I’m vegan so I avoid gelatin-based gummies anyway. I use a liquid biotin from a plant source, but even that I’m skeptical about. The article is spot-on: most of these supplements are unregulated. I’d rather invest in a balanced diet with plenty of leafy greens & legumes. 💚
