THREAD: Just saw this study on biotin gummies - legit or marketing hype?Started by AlphaAdam365

Hey all, just came across this article summarizing a study (PMID: 12345678) about biotin gummies and hair/nail benefits. It claims the gummy form has 'superior absorption' compared to pills. As someone who's always rushing between meetings, I love the convenience of gummies, but this sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else seen this? Is the study legit or just biased marketing?

Yo AlphaAdam! I actually read that study last week. The methodology seems solid - double-blind, placebo-controlled, 200 participants. BUT here's the catch: it was funded by a major gummy supplement company. I'm all for biotin (I take it for workout recovery and skin), but the 'superior absorption' claim might be exaggerated. In my experience as a trainer, consistency matters more than form. If gummies get you taking it daily, great, but don't expect miracles from the gummy format alone.

Ugh, not surprised about the funding source. As a mom researching everything for my family, I've learned to be super skeptical. That study only tracked adults for 8 weeks - what about long-term effects on kids? My daughter loves gummies, but I worry about sugar content and additives. The article probably glossed over that. I'd check independent sources like ConsumerLab before trusting it. Always follow the money!

Thanks both! VibeVitamins, good point about consistency - I definitely remember better with gummies on my desk. VitalVince, you're right to be cautious. I'll look for unbiased reviews. Maybe I'll stick with my current brand but not expect 'superior' results. Anyone have brand recs that are transparent about ingredients?

For sure! I use Nature's Truth gummies - solid third-party testing and lower sugar than most. But honestly, if absorption is your main concern, a quality capsule might be better. The study's bias doesn't mean biotin itself is bad, just that the gummy hype might be overblown. Keep crushing those meetings, Adam!
