THREAD: My biotin gummies look weird - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I've been taking these biotin gummies for a few months now, and I just opened a new bottle. They look... off. Some of them are kinda hard and have this white, powdery coating on them, and a few are stuck together in clumps. They smell fine, but I'm worried about eating them. Has anyone else had this happen? Are they still safe to take?

Ah, the classic sugar bloom and sticking issue. This happens when gummies are exposed to humidity or temperature changes. The white powder is just sugar crystallizing on the surface - it's harmless, but it does affect texture. If they're rock hard, they might be stale. Personally, I'd toss them. Proper storage in a cool, dry place is key with traditional gummies like these. Maybe check the expiration date too?

Ugh, this is why I switched to sugar-free options years ago! Sugar-based gummies are so prone to this. That white stuff is definitely sugar bloom from moisture. They're probably safe chemically, but texture-wise? Not pleasant. If you're worried, maybe contact the manufacturer. But honestly, consider trying sugar-free biotin gummies - way more stable and better for your teeth!

Fascinating! I've actually experimented with making my own gummies and see this all the time. The hardening and sticking usually means they dried out or absorbed moisture. The sugar bloom is just recrystallization - totally safe but unappetizing. You could try reviving them by putting a slice of bread in the container overnight (sounds weird, but it adds moisture back!). Or... you could use this as an excuse to try DIY-ing your own biotin gummies - I have a great recipe!
