My Biotin Gummies Turned White and Hard – Still Safe to Eat?

Hey everyone, I bought a big bottle of biotin gummies a few months ago and they've changed a lot. They used to be soft and clear, now they're hard as rocks and have a white coating on them (sugar bloom I think?) Some are also sticking together. The expiration date isn't for another year. Are they safe to take? I hate wasting money but don't want to get sick.

Oh honey, I've seen this before with my kids' vitamins. It's usually just sugar crystallizing from temp changes. If they smell fine and no mold, they're probably okay. But I personally wouldn't risk it – gummies are cheap compared to a stomach ache. I'd toss them and get a fresh batch from a brand that uses natural preservatives.

I wouldn't touch those. Gummies are processed junk anyway. Your body needs holistic biotin from foods like eggs and nuts. That white stuff could be mold or degraded ingredients. Listen to your gut – literally. Get a refund and switch to whole foods.

Let's look at the science. The white coating is likely sugar bloom from moisture changes. Hardness means gelatin degradation. As long as there's no mold (green/black spots) or off smell, they're technically safe but less potent. Biotin is stable, but the gummy base may not be. I'd contact the manufacturer for a refund due to quality issues. Also check if they were stored in a humid place.
