Hey guys, just seen this study on biotin for hair growth (PMID: 34567890). It's a double-blind RCT, found significant improvement in hair thickness and nail brittleness. But the thing is, it was funded by a supplement company. Do you think the results are valid or is it biased? I'm thinking of adding biotin gummies to my stack, but I want to be sure.

Funding bias is a red flag, but not a deal-breaker if methodology is sound. I'd look at the dose used and compare to what's in gummies. Most biotin gummies have 5000 mcg, which is way higher than the RDA, but studies often use 2.5-5 mg. Also check if they measured actual hair growth or just perception. I'm cautious, but I've read other studies supporting biotin for deficiency only. If you're not deficient, it might not do much.

Eh, I take biotin gummies and my hair and nails are fine, but no miracle. The study might be legit, but the company probably cherry-picked results. I'd wait for more independent research. Also, make sure you're not getting too much biotin – it can mess with lab tests, especially thyroid. Just saying.

Good point about the lab tests, FitnessFanatic80. I didn't think about that. Since I get blood work done regularly, maybe I should avoid biotin high doses. But the gummies are tasty, haha. I'll check my intake and maybe go for a lower dose. Do you both think a lower dose like 3000 mcg is still effective?
