Costco has a crazy deal on Gummy Vitamins – are they legit?
Was at Costco yesterday and they had a huge pallet of gummy multivitamins on clearance. Like, $8 for a 90-count bottle. Normally those are $20+. My first thought was 'score!' but then I got paranoid. Is there such a thing as a cheap gummy vitamin that's actually good? Or am I just buying a bunch of sugar? Anyone know if Costco's clearance stuff is just overstock or if it's lower quality? I'm a med student so I know a bit about supplements, but never seen prices this low.

Tech guy here, so I look at this from a QA perspective. Costco is notorious for getting overstock or close-to-expiry batches. They probably bought a huge lot from a manufacturer that had a surplus. That doesn't mean lower quality per se, but check the expiration date. Also, some brands cut costs by using cheaper gelatin or synthetic ingredients. Look up the brand online, see if they have certifications like USP or NSF. If it's a known brand, it's probably a steal. If it's some no-name brand, be cautious. I'd buy one bottle and test it out first.
Thanks for the tips! The brand is 'Nature's Bounty' – I think that's pretty reputable? They have the usual vitamins listed, no crazy additives. Sugar is 3g per gummy which seems standard. Expiry is like 6 months away, so that's fine. I grabbed two bottles lol. Worst case I'll return them. But good to know Costco's deals are sometimes legit! Also, @VibeVitamins267, do you know if there's a way to test gummy potency at home? Like dissolve one in water or something?
Nature's Bounty is solid! I've used their stuff before. As for testing, lol, I don't think you can do much at home. But if they taste like regular gummy bears with a hint of vitamin, that's usually a good sign. If they are super chalky or melt weird, then maybe not. Enjoy your haul! 📸
