Gummies changed color and texture - still safe?
Hey everyone, I bought a bottle of gummy vitamins last month and noticed they've gotten darker and harder. Some are sticking together too. I'm worried they might be bad. Are they still safe to eat?
That's pretty common. Gummies can change color and texture over time due to exposure to air and moisture. They're probably still safe, but I'd check the expiration date. If it's past, I'd toss them. If not, they might just be past their prime. Personally, I prefer traditional capsules - more stable. But if they smell or taste weird, don't risk it.
Honestly, I wouldn't eat them. Gummies are sugar bombs anyway. If they're changing texture, the ingredients might be degrading. You never know if the vitamins are still potent. I've thrown away gummies that looked like that. Stick to capsules or powders for stability and dosing accuracy.
I've had that happen with my gummies. They got hard and sugary on the outside. I still ate them and was fine. But I also store them in the fridge now to keep them fresh. Maybe try that next time. If they smell weird or have mold, definitely don't eat. Otherwise, they probably are just dehydrated. You can also add a moisture pack if you have one.
