My kid thought my gummy vitamins were candy... and now I'm in trouble!
OMG, okay so I have a confession. My 6-year-old daughter saw my gummy multivitamins on the counter and she literally thought they were fruit snacks. I turned my back for one second and she had eaten like three of them! I know they're vitamins but I freaked out a little. She's fine, but I'm wondering... does this happen to anyone else? And also, is there a way to get them to *not* taste like candy? 😂
Haha, been there! My wife did the same exact thing with my zinc gummies. But hey, at least they're getting their vitamins? 😂 On a serious note, you might want to keep them in a high cabinet or locked up. Kids are like little Houdinis with anything that looks like candy. And no, I haven't found a gummy that doesn't taste like candy – that's the whole point 😉
As a med student, I gotta jump in: please keep those out of reach! Most gummy vitamins are actually pretty safe if a kid eats a few extra, but they can cause stomach upset or an overdose of certain vitamins (like A, D, iron). If they ever eat a whole bottle, call poison control. But three? Probably nothing to worry about. Still, better safe than sorry. And to answer your question, yeah, my little cousin did the same thing with his Flintstones – it's a classic!
My dog once ate a whole bottle of my elderberry gummies... not advice, just solidarity. But for kids, some brands make 'non-candy' gummies that are less sweet? But honestly, they all taste like candy. The best tip I've seen is to talk to your kids about that they're medicine, not snacks, from the start. And obviously, store them out of sight. My daughter is 7 and she knows 'gummies are for mommy' only. But it's a constant struggle 😅
