New study on melatonin gummies - legit or biased?
Hey all, just saw this study (PMID: 12345678) about melatonin gummies for sleep. Claims they're as effective as capsules. But the study was funded by a gummy company. Seems fishy? Anyone else read it? I'm a sleep-deprived parent, so I'd love if gummies worked!
I hear ya! But I'm a caffeine addict, so sleep is a distant dream. That study does sound a bit biased though. Usually I check if it's peer-reviewed and if the dosage matches what's actually in gummies. Sometimes they skimp on the melatonin. But if it's legit, sign me up! My kids won't take capsules.
As a retired nurse, I've seen a lot of supplement studies. Funding from the industry is a red flag, but not a dealbreaker. The real question is: what was the sample size, and did they compare apples to apples? Gummies degrade melatonin over time, so stability is an issue. Trust but verify, folks.
Good points. I think the study had 100 participants, 8 weeks. They measured sleep quality via actigraphy. But yeah, I'll be skeptical. Maybe I'll try it for a week and see if I feel different. Anything to get more sleep!
Let us know how it goes! I'll stick to my coffee for now, but if you say it works, maybe I'll switch my evening routine. :)
