Traveling with gummies? Melt risk & TSA tips!
Hey everyone! I'm going on a long hike next week and want to bring my gummy vitamins. I've heard they can melt in heat, and I'm not sure about TSA rules for carry-ons. Anyone have experience traveling with these? Do I need to pack them a special way? Thanks!
I work nights and travel a lot. I always keep my gummies in a cool, dry place. For flights, I put them in my carry-on, no issues with TSA (they're supplements, not liquids). But if it's hot, they can get sticky. I use a small insulated pouch or wrap them in a paper towel. On the trail, keep them in your pack's side pocket away from direct sun.
TSA definitely allows gummies; I've never had a problem. For melting, I recommend a little cooler bag or even a hard plastic container. Some people freeze them before a trip? But I'd worry about condensation. I store mine in glass jars at home, but for travel, I use a metal tin. Also, check the ingredients—some have lower melting points.
I'm skeptical about gummies being worth the hassle. But when I do take them camping, I keep them in a Ziploc inside my sleeping bag at night (cooler). During the day, bury them in my backpack under a water bottle. TSA never blinked. Just don't put them in checked luggage—temperature extremes there are worse.
