Hey everyone! I bought a jar of collagen gummies a couple months ago and forgot about them. Now they're super hard, covered in white stuff (sugar bloom?), and some are stuck together. They smell fine. Are they still safe to eat??

Oh man, that's a bummer. I've had that happen before. If they smell okay and taste okay (maybe a bit chalky), they're probably safe food-wise. But the texture will be gross and the collagen might be less effective because of heat or moisture exposure. I personally toss them if they're hard because I want that nice soft chew lol. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, what Vibe said. I'm a parent and I've seen gummies go bad in my kids' stash. If they're rock hard or got that white stuff, it's just sugar crystallizing – not moldy. But I wouldn't eat them cuz they're probably not as potent anymore. I'd just get a new jar. Sleep is precious, don't risk stomach troubles on top of it.

From a food safety standpoint, sugar bloom isn't harmful – it's just moisture loss. However, the heat and time may degrade the collagen peptides. Also, check for any off smells or sticky spots that could hint at mold. If they're just hard and sugary, they're safe but may not do much. I'd toss them if they're beyond the best by date.

Thanks everyon! I'll toss them and grab a new jar. Good to know about the sugar bloom being safe though. Appreciate the help!
