Is this collagen study legit or just hype?

Hey guys, I just read this study (PMID: 38276341) claiming that marine collagen peptides significantly improve skin elasticity in 8 weeks. The sample size was only 60 women though. Seems fishy to me, but maybe I’m being paranoid. Anyone else seen this?

Oh, I remember when collagen was all the rage in the 90s with those gelatin masks! 😂 But seriously, small studies often get blown out of proportion. I'd wait for a meta-analysis or something. Also, check if the authors have ties to supplement companies – that’s a red flag.

I actually tried marine collagen gummies for a month and noticed zero difference. But maybe my app-based skin analyzer is flawed? lol. The study could be legit, but 60 people isn't enough to convince me. Need at least 200+ with control group. Also, if it's from a journal with low impact factor, I'd be suspicious.

Good points! The journal is “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology” – impact factor around 2.0. Not top tier but not trash either. Guess I'll bookmark it and see if more data comes out. Thanks for the input!

Totally! Keep an eye on PubMed for updates. And remember, even if it's legit, individual results vary. I’d still stick with my homemade bone broth collagen – feels more natural! 😉
