My collagen gummies turned hard and sugary - are they still safe?

Hey all, so I've had my collagen gummies for about 2 months, and I noticed they've gotten really hard and have this white coating on them. They also stick together in the jar. I'm pretty sure it's just sugar bloom, but I'm paranoid about eating them. Anyone know if they're still safe? They smell fine, taste okay (I tried one, it was just super hard). Should I toss them or is it okay?

I've had that happen too! I think it's just the moisture getting out or something. As long as they're not discolored in a weird way or smell off, they should be fine. I ate mine like that and nothing happened, just crunchy lol. But maybe check if they're past their expiry date? That might matter.

Actually, I'd be careful. The change in texture could mean the ingredients are degrading, especially collagen. The sugar bloom is just sugar crystallizing, but hardening might indicate they're losing potency. I'd look for any mold too, especially if they stuck together. If they're not expired, it's probably okay, but you might not get the full benefits. My advice: if you're unsure, throw them out and get a fresh jar. Not worth the risk.

Can confirm! I had a jar of gummies that did that, and they tasted fine but gave me a stomach ache. Maybe it's the texture? I think it's about storage - you're supposed to keep them in a cool, dry place. I started putting mine in the fridge and they stayed chewy. But yeah, I'd say if they are only hard and sugary, they are safe. Just might need to chew more lol.
