Traveling with collagen gummies – do they melt? TSA okay?
Hey y’all, heading on a road trip next week with the kids (send help lol). I always take my collagen gummies but I’m worried they’ll melt in the car or get flagged by TSA. Anyone have experience flying or driving with these? They’re the standard chewy kind. Also, any storage tips to keep them from turning into a sticky mess?
Great question. TSA is totally fine with gummies – they’re not a liquid/gel exception. I’ve flown with many types. For heat: if you’re in a car, keep them in the glove compartment or a cooler bag. They can melt above 90°F. On a plane, carry-on is fine, cabin temp stays cool. For hiking, put them in an insulated pouch with a small ice pack. Also, if they do melt, you can refrigerate them to re-solidify – still good!
Oh I feel you! I took mine hiking last summer and they got all soft. Now I put them in a small mason jar with a silica gel packet to keep dry. Also, pro tip: if you’re flying, put them in your toiletries bag in a ziplock – just in case security wants to see them. I’ve never had them confiscated. Have a great trip!
Thanks guys! The cooler bag idea is genius – I’ll grab one. Also didn’t know about the silica packet for moisture. Do you think I should keep them in the original bottle or transfer to a smaller container for travel? Bottle is bulky.
I usually transfer to a small labeled zip bag or a travel pill organizer. If you keep the original bottle, you can show the label if asked. But most TSA agents don’t care – they see gummies all the time. Just don’t put them in a suspicious powder container haha. Stay chill and enjoy the trip!
