Creatine in protein bars: game changer or just hype?
Pro Athletes Debut Creatine-Infused, NSF Certified Protein Bars and Shakes. The landscape of sports nutrition is undergoing a significant transformation as creatine continues its migration from... What do you guys think? Are you in or out?
As a marathon runner, I'm always looking for ways to improve endurance and recovery. Creatine isn't just for bodybuilders anymore—it's been shown to help with high-intensity intervals, which I do for speed work. These bars seem convenient, but I'd want to check the sugar content. Some of those protein bars are basically candy bars in disguise! Still, if they're NSF certified, that's a good sign.
Ugh, creatine is not vegan-friendly most of the time, and I doubt these bars are any different. I've been plant-based for years and I get all the creatine I need from my diet... wait, actually no, but I still don't need it. There are plenty of plant-based protein options without adding creatine. Plus, the whole 'pro athlete' marketing is just to sell expensive products. I'll pass.
Back in my day, we had to mix creatine powder into our shakes and it tasted awful. Now they're putting it in bars and calling it a breakthrough? Ha! But seriously, I'm a nostalgic guy, but I'm also open to innovation. If it helps people get their creatine without the mess, why not? I just hope they don't forget the basics: whole foods first, supplements second.
