THREAD: DIY Creatine Gummies Disaster - Help! My batch turned into a sticky messStarted by WellnessWendy729

Hey everyone! So I've been trying to make my own creatine gummies at home to avoid all the sugar in store-bought ones. I used gelatin, some creatine monohydrate powder, and a little stevia for sweetness. Followed a basic gummy recipe I found online, but instead of setting up firm, they came out super sticky and kinda melted at room temp. Anyone have tips for getting the texture right? I'm training for a marathon and really want these to work for my post-run recovery!

omg i tried this too last month! mine were like... weird rubbery blobs that tasted like chalk. i think the vitamin powders mess with the gelling process? maybe try agar agar instead of gelatin? i read it sets firmer. also, are you dissolving the creatine in liquid first? i didnt and there were grainy bits everywhere. still trying to find my zen with this diy stuff lol

Ugh I feel you! I attempted caffeine gummies once and they were a total fail—ended up just drinking my cold brew instead. For creatine, maybe try mixing it with a tiny bit of warm water or juice before adding to the gelatin? And don't overheat the mixture! I think I boiled mine and it killed the gelling agents. Also, have you considered adding a bit of citric acid for flavor? Might help mask any supplement taste. Let me know if you figure it out—I'd love to try a creatine version for my pre-workout!

Thanks for the tips! @BioBob47 I'll try agar agar next batch—good call. And @MindfulMila48, I did dissolve the creatine in warm water first, but maybe it was too hot. Do you think using less liquid overall would help? I followed a 1:1 ratio of liquid to gelatin, but maybe with powders it needs adjusting. Also, how much creatine are you guys using per batch? I did 5g per serving but worried that's too much for the texture.

i used like 3g per serving and it was still kinda off. maybe start small and work up? also, someone on another forum said to add a pinch of lecithin to help emulsify everything... no idea if that works but sounded sciencey. good luck! update us if the agar version turns out better—im curious for my next meditation snack attempt (when i'm not busy being a rookie at it haha).
