THREAD: DIY Creatine Gummies - My batch turned into a sticky mess! Help?Started by GreenGreg567

Hey everyone, so I tried making my own creatine gummies at home to save some cash. Used gelatin, some flavored drink mix, and my creatine monohydrate powder. Followed a basic gummy recipe I found online, but instead of setting firm, they came out super sticky and kinda melted together in the fridge. Anyone have tips on ratios or if I need to add something else? Also, does heat destroy creatine? Worried I cooked the benefits away lol.

OP, you're on the right track with DIY—total biohacker move. Key things: 1) Gelatin needs exact hydration; too much liquid = sticky mess. Use a 1:3 gelatin to liquid ratio by weight. 2) Creatine is heat-stable up to ~300°F, so mixing it in after dissolving gelatin (under 150°F) preserves it. Add a pinch of citric acid for shelf life and tartness. I add 5g creatine per 100g gummy batch. Pro tip: use silicone molds and dust with cornstarch after setting to prevent sticking. Failed batches are just data points!

Ugh, this is why I stick to whole foods. Messing with powders and gels at home seems risky—how do you even measure doses accurately? Steve's ratios might work, but are you sure your creatine powder is pure? Lots of fillers in supplements that could mess with the texture. Honestly, just eat some fish or lean meat if you want creatine naturally. Save yourself the kitchen disaster and potential waste.

Thanks Steve! The weight ratio tip makes sense—I was just eyeballing it. I'll try the cornstarch dusting too. Pat, I get the skepticism, but I'm trying to avoid animal products lately (hence no fish), and store-bought gummies are expensive. Plus, it's kinda fun to experiment! Steve, do you think agar agar would work better than gelatin for a firmer set? Saw it mentioned in a vegan recipe.

Greg, agar agar is great for vegan batches, but it sets firmer and can get brittle if overdone. Use 1% agar by weight of liquid, boil it fully to activate, then mix in creatine off-heat. It might hold shape better than gelatin if you had stickiness issues. And Pat, purity matters—third-party tested creatine only. I use a lab scale for dosing; accuracy is key for biohacking. Greg, post an update if the agar batch works! #DIYsupplements
