Why did my creatine gummies turn into a rock?

Ok so I tried making creatine gummies at home using gelatin and some powder I had. Followed a recipe online but they came out like rubber cement. Anyone have a foolproof recipe? Or is this a bad idea?

Oh honey, homemade supplements are tricky. Creatine doesn't dissolve well in water, so you need to mix it with a liquid first. Also, too much gelatin will make them hard. Try using 2 tbsp gelatin per cup of liquid, and add a little lecithin to help it mix. Let me know if you need more details!

I've been experimenting with agar instead of gelatin (vegan here). For creatine, I find that heating the liquid to 180°F then whisking in the agar works better. But yeah, creatine can clump. Maybe try blending the powder with a bit of juice before adding? Also, silicone molds are key.

Thanks guys! I used fruit juice as the base, but maybe I didn't mix the creatine enough. I'll try the lecithin tip, GummyGuru. And Holly, I'll look into agar. Do I need to adjust the amount? Also, how long do these things last?

Agar gummies are more fragile, so store them in the fridge and eat within a week. Gelatin ones last longer if you keep them dry. And yes, Holly's right about blending first - I use a little hand blender. Good luck!
