Elderberry gummies: My toddler thinks they're candy and my husband won't touch them!
Okay, I need to vent/ask for advice. My 4-year-old found my elderberry gummies and thought they were candy. He ate like 5 before I caught him! No harm done, but now he keeps asking for 'purple candy' and refuses to believe they're vitamins. Meanwhile, my husband says the texture is 'weirdly chewy' and won't take them either. Anyone else dealing with gummy drama?
LOL, Gigi! My kid did the same thing with my zinc gummies last year. I actually got one of those timed pill dispensers they use for meds - the high-tech kind with a lock. Problem solved! For your husband, maybe try the liquid elderberry? No texture issues there. Though tbh, the gummies are way more fun tech-wise.
Not to be that guy, but have you considered whole foods instead? Real elderberries, maybe in a syrup? Avoids the processed gummy issue entirely. My paleo approach means no added sugars or weird binders. Kids might go for homemade popsicles with elderberry syrup mixed in - natural and no 'candy' confusion.
Jack, a locked dispenser is genius! Though knowing my kid, he'd just try to hack it lol. Greg, I appreciate the whole foods idea, but between work and the baby, I barely have time to shower, let alone make syrup from scratch. The gummies are my quick immune boost hack. Maybe I'll just hide them better...
Totally get the time crunch, Gigi. Btw, there's an app that syncs with some dispensers - sends alerts if someone tampers with it. Tech saves the day again! For the texture thing, my wife mixes crushed gummies into smoothies. Disguises the chewiness. Not as cool as my gadget solutions, but it works.
