Elderberry gummies on a plane - will they melt?
Heading to the mountains for a hiking trip and want to bring my elderberry gummies, but I'm worried they might melt in the plane or get squished in my backpack. Any tips for transporting them? Also, TSA rules - should I keep them in original packaging?
Honestly, I'd skip the gummies on a trip. They're just sugar and some extract. But if you must, I've seen people put them in a small pill organizer or zip bag. They might get soft if it's hot, but they won't fully melt unless you leave them in a hot car. For TSA, just keep them in carry-on; they're a solid, so no liquid restriction. Original packaging might help if asked, but not usually an issue.
I've flown with gummy vitamins a bunch. They survive fine in carry-on. Just keep them in a cool place in your bag. If you're worried about melting, put them in an insulated bag or near your water bottle but not against it. I also use a small hard case so they don't get squished. And yeah, they won't trigger TSA as long as they're not liquids. Once, I had a gel-ish gummy that they swabbed, but it was fine.
Thanks for the tips! I'll keep them in my carry-on in a hard case. But what about hiking in warm weather? Will they stick together? Should I powder them or something? Lol.
If you're hiking in heat, they might get sticky and clump. You could put a piece of parchment paper between layers or just eat them quickly, haha. But honestly, I'd just leave them at home and take some zinc lozenges instead - more stable and actually does something.
