Elderberry Gummies on Sale at Costco - Too Good to Be True?
Hey all, just saw a big discount on elderberry gummies at Costco. Like, $10 off the usual price. I'm tempted to stock up, but my wallet is screaming 'deal!' while my brain is asking 'what's the catch?' Anyone else seen this? Is Costco trying to offload old stock or something? I've been using elderberry for immune support during marathon training, so I go through these like crazy.
Honestly, I never buy gummies from big box stores. They're always loaded with sugar or corn syrup. Check the label - if it has more than a gram of sugar per gummy, it's a pass for me. I get mine from a specialty brand that uses monk fruit or stevia, even if it costs more. But if the Costco ones are clean, then it might be a steal. Let us know the ingredients!
I grabbed some from Target on sale last week. For me, it's about the brand and the amount of actual elderberry extract, not the price. A discount doesn't necessarily mean lower quality - could just be a promotion or they're clearing shelf space. I'd say check the label for 'standardized extract' or at least an indication of anthocyanins. If it's from a reputable brand, I'd go for it.
Costco usually has good quality stuff, but also think about the packaging - those big plastic jars aren't exactly eco-friendly. But if it's a good deal, you could buy in bulk and maybe reuse the jars? Just a thought. I think if the brand is known and it has clean ingredients, it's a steal. I'd probably buy it but also try to find a refill option to reduce waste.
