THREAD: Elderberry gummies on sale at Costco - too good to be true?Started by SupplementSteve97

Hey all, just got back from Costco and saw their Kirkland brand elderberry gummies on sale for like half the price of the name-brand stuff I usually get. I work nights so I'm always looking for immune support, but this seems suspiciously cheap. Anyone tried these? Is the lower price just because it's store brand, or does it mean they're cutting corners on quality? Don't wanna waste money on junk.

Steve, I've been using elderberry for years - long before it became trendy in gummy form. My grandmother always made her own syrup. Store brands often use fillers, artificial colors, or less potent extracts. Check the label: does it list 'elderberry extract' with a standardized percentage of anthocyanins, or just 'elderberry juice concentrate'? The latter is weaker. Also, avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup - traditional preparations never included that. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Medical student here - jumping in! Quinn makes a good point about labeling. From a clinical perspective, studies on elderberry typically use standardized extracts. Costco's version might be fine if it's properly dosed. Compare the mg of elderberry per serving to your usual brand. Also, check for third-party testing seals (like USP or NSF) - that's a quality indicator independent of price. Sales can be legit, especially post-winter when demand drops. But if it's drastically cheaper, maybe skip it unless the specs match up.

lol i'm in bali right now and even here i see elderberry stuff everywhere. i grabbed some cheap gummies at a local pharmacy once and they tasted like cardboard, zero effect. costco's usually decent tho? their return policy is killer so low risk. maybe try em for a month and see if you feel any diff. i'd say if the ingredients are clean and the dose is right, it's a steal. but yeah, avoid the super shady cheap stuff - learned that the hard way in thailand haha
