THREAD: Elderberry gummies on sale - too good to be true or just a steal?Started by OP

Hey all, just spotted some elderberry gummy vitamins on clearance at my local Target - like 40% off the usual price. They're a brand I've seen before but never tried. Makes me wonder... is the lower price a sign of lower quality ingredients, or did I just luck out on a great deal? Anyone have experience with buying discounted supplements?

As a paleo guy, I'm always skeptical of cheap supplements. Check the label for fillers like maltodextrin, artificial sweeteners, or food dyes. Sometimes sales happen because a product is near expiration or reformulated with cheaper stuff. If the ingredients list looks clean (real elderberry extract, no junk), it might be fine. But if it's loaded with additives, hard pass.

Oh, I buy elderberry gummies for my grandkids during cold season! I've found good deals at Costco sometimes—it's often just overstock or seasonal clearance. But I always compare the dosage per serving to pricier brands. If it has a decent amount of elderberry extract (like 100mg+), and no high-fructose corn syrup, I'd say go for it! Maybe check reviews online first though.

From a fitness perspective, elderberry's more for immunity than performance, but a deal's a deal. I've seen quality vary a lot by brand regardless of price. Look for third-party testing seals (USP, NSF) on the bottle—that's a better quality indicator than cost. If it lacks those, the discount might mean weaker potency or poor sourcing. No seal? Probably not worth it even cheap.

Totally agree with Vince on third-party testing! Also, OP, check the expiration date—sometimes stores discount stuff close to expiring. If it's got 6+ months left and the ingredients are solid, snag it! Elderberry's great for immune support, especially in gummy form. I'd say if it passes the label check, it's a steal. Let us know what you decide!
