Has anyone else had weird dreams after starting elderberry gummies?
Hi all, I've been taking elderberry gummies for about two weeks now (the ones from the local health store) and I've noticed I'm having really vivid, sometimes bizarre dreams. It's not bad, just... different. I used to never remember my dreams. Anyone else experienced this? I'm 62 and a bit concerned about my health, but otherwise I feel fine. Just wondering if it's a normal thing or if I should worry.
Hey MountainMike, that's actually a noted but harmless side effect for some people. Elderberry can affect your sleep architecture, and there are some compounds that may enhance dream vividness. As a med student, I can tell you it's not a cause for concern unless you're having nightmares or it's disrupting your sleep. Since you say it's not bad, I'd just enjoy the show! Haha. But if you're really worried, you could try taking it earlier in the day instead of at night.
Same thing happened to me! I started taking elderberry gummies a month ago and my dreams are so crazy! I'm really into meditation, so I kind of like it—it feels like I'm getting a free movie every night. Also, I noticed my pee is like neon yellow, but that's just the B vitamins, I think. It goes away after a few hours. Is that normal too?
Yeah, MangoMia, the bright yellow urine is a classic harmless side effect of B vitamins, especially riboflavin (B2). It's just your body getting rid of the excess. Totally harmless. So both of you are fine. But as always, if you have any underlying conditions or are on medication, it's worth a quick chat with your doc. But from what you describe, it's all good!
Thanks for the replies, guys! I feel a lot better. I might try moving the gummies to lunchtime and see if that calms the dreams a bit, but honestly, they're kinda fun. And Mango, glad to know I'm not the only one with the crazy dreams! I'll keep my doc in the loop if it continues, but for now, I'm enjoying the ride. Thanks again!
