Help! My kid thinks the elderberry gummies are candy!

So, I came home from work yesterday, and my 5-year-old is on the kitchen counter, trying to climb up to get the medicine cabinet. I ask him what he's doing, and he says 'I want the candy! The purple ones!' I had to explain (again) that they're not candy, they're vitamins, and he can only have one a day. Now I have to lock them up. Anyone else have this issue?

Ha! Sounds like my house. My 7-year-old calls them 'gummy bears' and I swear he can smell them from his room. I've started hiding them in a top cabinet and only take them when he's not looking. But the worst is when my husband ate a handful thinking they were regular gummies. He was so confused why they tasted 'vaguely herbal'.

I've got a different problem. My kid refuses to eat them because of the texture. He says they're 'chewy but not in a fun way' and he spits them out. I tried cutting them in half, but he still gags. I think I'm just going to switch to the syrup version. But yes, the candy confusion is real. I have to keep them in a lockbox, lol.

Oof, texture issues are tough. My daughter loves them, but I'm worried she'll sneak them when I'm not looking. Maybe I should get a childproof container. I've also heard of people mixing them into yogurt, but that might make the texture worse. Have you tried the gummy style from other brands? I heard some are softer.

I saw a hack online: you can dip them in a little hot water for a few seconds to soften them up. It kinda works, but then they get sticky. My kid actually prefers the texture of the regular gummy bears over these. But hey, at least they're healthy, right? I'm just glad they're not like those gross chalky chewable vitamins from my childhood.
